Spirituality is the universal common denominator

This statement may sound rather general, but is it really?

To investigate this statement, one needs to look a single individual human being. Yes, biologically we are all the same, but that basic level of similarity is not enough to stop us killing ourselves and everything else, including the Earth. They say that the most most basic need is self preservation, but it is clearly no longer our driving force as a race. We have become the uber parasite who feeds constantly driven by an insatiable need to have more and more whatever the cost. So it could be said that we are, as a whole, totally unaware of any governing principle which can keep in check our rampant greed.

This brings us to our spiritual aspect of our being. Irrespective of how you define this aspect, it is that part of us that drives us to aspire to what is good, to look up and aspire to be better people. For many of the human race, spirituality is something which sounds very New Age top others it is a renegade group of heretics, with no conception of the authority of the earthly administrative structure and adherence to dogma of the Churchs'.

But in fact spirituality is in fact that that makes us desire to be closer to God. It is that same spirituality which defies the norms of the day and drives men to risk life and limb to bring in needed reforms to help bring about better living conditions for other humans. Spirituality is however much deeper it goes to our very core, it is the one thing which we all have, but not all of us practice it very well.

We often confuse slavish performance of religious rituals as being sufficient while all the time thinking of worldly things. If we all embraced without reserved the precepts of true spirituality and recognise the role of a mystical approach to life then the world would be a better place because with these tools come the realisation that we are connected, one to the other in an elaborate matrix where everyone is connected to everyone else.

There needs to be a spiritual revolution of sorts which will bring about a more spiritual society governed by higher principles and acknowledging every one's right to believe as they will, thus maintain harmony and goodwill.
